Malini Mehra

Chair of IEEP UK Board and Member of the IEEP ASBL Board

Malini Mehra is chief executive of GLOBE International, the environmental legislators organisation founded by Al Gore and John Kerry. An award-winning sustainability leader, Malini brings more than three decades of international experience on governance for sustainable development, policy entrepreneurship, advice and advocacy spanning government, business, UN bodies and civil society. Having worked within government, led international civil society campaigns, founded NGOs, and advised the world’s leading corporations, Malini brings a unique multi sectoral, institutionally aware, politically astute and interdisciplinary perspective across geographies to real-world problem solving.

 

From advising the UN Secretary General on UN reform, to leading on international sustainable development partnerships for the UK government and global campaigns for Oxfam and Friends of the Earth International, to founding India’s pioneering CSR and climate organisation, Centre for Social Markets, Malini has served on numerous non-profit and corporate advisory boards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, China Dialogue, The Third Pole, Unilever, BHP Billiton, Kimberly Clark and Hewlett-Packard. Currently she is a Commissioner to the Mayor of London on sustainable development, Chair of the Institute for European Environmental Policy UK, founder of the global anti-drowning DRR campaign, Teach A Girl To Swim, advisor to EcoPeace Middle East and Tetra Pak.

 

Her honours include Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and Asia 21 Leader of the Asia Society. An Indian citizen, she is based in London where she is an Ambassador for London Climate Action Week. A political scientist and women and development specialist, she has degrees from Smith College (USA) and the Institute for Development Studies (IDS, Sussex).
