[Event] UK FRC: What’s next for deforestation regulation in the UK?

On 28 October 2025 (10.00-11.30 UK time), IEEP UK will be hosting a webinar on the proposed UK Forest Risk Commodities (FRC) legislation, and potential for alignment with the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR).

The Environment Act 2021 prohibits the use of forest risk commodities (FRC) in the UK that have been produced in a manner that does not comply with local land use laws. However, this ban will require secondary legislation to determine its scope, due diligence reporting requirements and implementation timeline. This legislation has still not been introduced.

In this session, we will take a closer look at the need for UK FRC regulations and their potential scope, exploring the case for alignment with the EUDR. With the recent back and forth on delays and simplification of the EUDR, this webinar comes at an important moment for action on deforestation in supply chains across the UK and Europe.

This webinar will be chaired by IEEP UK Chair Malini Mehra, and feature: Pippa Heylings MP, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Energy Security and Net Zero, and co-chair of the APPG on Global Deforestation; Nicola Brennan (WWF-UK); Joe James (Sainsbury’s); Ed Worsdell (IEEP UK); and Nora Hiller (IEEP).
