Last Tuesday 7 May, during IEEP UK’s Spring Parliamentary Reception, guest speaker Philip Dunne MP, chair of the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, called for the next government to revisit collaboration between the UK and EU environment regulators as part of post-legislative scrutiny of the Environment Act, as reported by ENDS REPORT, who were present during the event.
The call followed the launch of IEEP UK’s latest discussion paper arguing for a fresh new direction for UK environmental policy in the future, with closer collaboration with the EU, and a briefing making the case for the UK to rejoin the European Environmental Agency.
During the event, guests also heard from Will Hutton, columnist at the Observer, Gina Miller, leader of the True and Fair Party, Baroness Young of Old Scone, life peer at the House of Lords, Barry Gardiner MP, member of several environmental committees in the House of Commons, Karl Mathiesen, climate editor at POLITICO and David Baldock and Ben Reynolds, Senior Fellow and Executive Director of IEEP UK respectively.
