[News] IEEP UK give opening oral evidence in House of Lords nitrogen inquiry

David Baldock, Senior Fellow at IEEP UK, gave oral evidence at the opening of the House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee inquiry into efficient nitrogen use, on 5 February 2025.

The inquiry is focusing on excess reactive nitrogen as a resource and the ways in which nitrogen could be captured and re-used rather than being treated as a waste product, highlighting opportunities and challenges across sectors. It will also consider how existing Government policy on nitrogen is coordinated across departments and how Government could take a holistic, strategic approach to nitrogen management. The inquiry is taking written evidence until 7 March 2025

IEEP UK’s evidence builds on a 2024 report it produced with Aether Ltd for the Sustainable Nitrogen Alliance, which is a policy gap analysis of UK Government progress towards nitrogen commitments.
