IEEP, together with ten research partners, is currently involved in the European Union Action to Fight Environmental Crime (EFFACE) project, which is a 40-months EU funded research project assessing the impacts of environmental crime.
As part of the project, EFFACE researchers compiled twelve case studies focusing on different types of environmental crime actions. IEEP was responsible for three case studies, including:
- Illegal shipment of e-waste from the EU: A case study on the illegal export of e-waste from the EU to China
- A case study on illegal localized pollution incidents within the EU
- Illegal fishing and the role of rights based fisheries management in improving compliance
The case studies assess a number of different aspects of environmental crime actions and propose a set of policy recommendations with the aim to improve enforcement and to combat environmental crime in the EU.
The whole set of case studies can be accessed here.
More information about EFFACE is available on the project website.
