Forestry is gaining prominence across the EU for the role it can play in multifunctional rural development. Appropriate woodland management practices can deliver a range of benefits, not only for the environment, but also for local rural economies and the public at large. A range of forestry measures feature in the new European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), and IEEP, with the input of stakeholders, explored the potential for using these in the UK. This work was conducted for the Land Use Policy Group.
