[News] Lord Teverson announced as new Chair of the Institute for European Environmental Policy UK

Green think tank IEEP UK has announced that Lord Robin Teverson will be taking on the role of Chair of Trustees. The appointment comes at a critical time with the UK charting a path to closer relations with the EU.

Lord Teverson commented on the appointment:

“It’s a real thrill to take on the role of chair of IEEP UK at this point in time, when its work has become even more mainstream and vital.  We have multiple environmental challenges facing us here and right across Europe.  At the same time the UK and the EU are rebuilding their relationship.  Together, the EU and UK can tackle those environmental challenges so much more effectively.  I look forward to working with our IEEP team to help on the demanding task of building a resilient and environmentally healthier continent.“

Robin is a member of the House of Lords and was formerly a member of the European Parliament (MEP). In the House he speaks on climate, energy and environmental matters having been a front bench spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats in those areas of policy. He has chaired a number of EU committees in the House, and sits on the UK-EU Parliamentary Partnership Assembly.

Ben Reynolds, IEEP UK’s Executive Director, added:

“I am so pleased to have someone of Lord Teverson’s calibre and experience join our Board. Much of the discussions around UK and EU relationships have focused on security and economic growth. Europe’s climate and environment underpin both of these priorities. Lord Teverson will be a fantastic asset for our work to better ensure that the environment and climate are at the heart of the UK-EU Reset, and that the discussions on the environmental opportunities and risks of a closer relationship are evidence-based.”

Lord Teverson takes over from outgoing chair of trustees, Malini Mehra, co-founder of London Climate Action Week. IEEP UK thanks Malini for all her support over the years.
