Sustainability reporting in the private sector increases in importance

Why do companies publish sustainability reports?

Over the last 15 years, private sector sustainability reporting has grown with large companies showing the highest engagement. Studies show the trend has had positive effects on businesses and investors, increasing internal awareness as well as sustainability’s role in decision-making processes.

In an interview with Ole Lund Hansen from the UN Global Compact and Eric J. Hespenheide from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the two representatives discuss in detail the increased quality and importance of sustainability reporting, as well as its potential.

The interview is part of the latest Beyond GDP newsletter, which also features a spotlight article on the different approaches to sustainability reporting in the private sector, recent news on Beyond GDP, and an agenda of forthcoming events.
